Transition Romania
Vision & Mission
History and brief description of the Romania in Transition Movement, the birth of the Romania in Transition Association and the Permaculture Research Institute, other partnerships, projects and national initiatives.
In Romania, the contact with the Transition Towns Movement started in the winter of 2011 with the organization of a seminar "Transition Initiatives" in Cluj, held by Anne Ambles, Transition Towns Network trainer and co-founder of the local initiative "Mayenne en Transition" in France.
This was followed by a series of introductory seminars in eight cities across the country during 2012, led by Claudian Doboș (who has since obtained his Transition Towns Network trainer certification) and local teams of volunteers.
In the towns where Transition has been successfully integrated and has received openness from the citizens, some projects with important social impact have also started to be developed.
From the passion and energy of the Transition Movement, several local Transition initiatives were born and evolved under various projects and even organizations: the Romania in Transition Association - ART (2013) and the Romanian Permaculture Research Institute - ICPR (2015), Aurora Community (intentional ecological community - in the Forest Country, HD) and ARISE Education - an integrative project of people, tools and educational experiences.
Romania in Transition ART is since 2013 the national HUB of the Transition Network, an organization aimed at inspiring, encouraging, connecting, as well as training communities as they consider, implementing transition initiatives in response to current planetary challenges. More active local Transition Hubs are in Bucharest, Cluj, Alba Iulia and Hunedoara.
