A simple way to get an overview of possible risks, and how to deal with them.
Risk Assessment is used to evaluate and quantify the potential risks of a project/action, and to come up with ideas in order to be prepared if these inconvenient situations happen.

When and why is this Method used ?

This is a structured, participative method for stakeholders to assess the severity of risks that have already been identified. It enables a team to focus on essentials. Risk Analysis can be used at any point in the life of a project or task: in preparations, at start-up, in mid-term reviews. It is useful not only for quickly identifying items that need to be addressed, but also to display to funders and other external stakeholders that the risks, if they materialize, will be adequately dealt with.

Steps

List and prioritize

Start with a list of the risks the group sees, for example the results from a Devil’s Advocate exercise. Pick the important ones, for instance using the Fast Prioritization tool.
